This policy explains what the Nkuba Helper browser extension does with information on your device. In short: the extension collects no personal data, has no accounts, sends nothing to the developer, and contacts no remote servers.

What the extension does

Nkuba Helper detects video content on the web pages you visit and lets you send a chosen video to the Nkuba desktop application running on the same computer, so it can be downloaded for personal offline viewing. The extension has no download capability of its own — it only relays a request to the local desktop app.

Information the extension handles

To do this, the extension processes, only on your device:

• Media and page URLs — the addresses of videos found on the current tab, and the address and title of that tab, gathered by scanning the page and by observing media network requests in the active browser session.
• A tab identifier — used only to show detections for the tab you are viewing.
• Whether the page uses DRM — the extension notices when a page plays copy-protected (DRM) video so it can mark that video as protected and refuse to send it for download. This is a simple yes/no observation made on your device; it is never stored or transmitted.

This information is held temporarily in the browser's local session storage so the extension popup can display it, and is discarded when the tab is closed or the browser session ends.

Where information goes

• When you click Download, the video and page URL you selected are sent only to the Nkuba desktop app over a local connection on your own computer (127.0.0.1, the loopback address). This never leaves your machine.
• The extension sends no data to the developer, to any analytics service, or to any other third party.
• The extension has no remote back-end, no user accounts, and no advertising.

Network access

The only network requests the extension makes are to the loopback address (127.0.0.1) of your own computer, to detect and talk to the Nkuba desktop app. It does not transmit data over the internet.

Permissions

• webRequest — used to notice video streams as pages load.
• tabs — used to know which tab is active so detections are shown for the correct page.
• storage — used to keep the current tab's detections available to the popup during your session.
• Host access to web pages (<all_urls>) — optional and only requested when you click "Allow" in the popup the first time you use the extension. The extension does not access any sites until you grant this, and you can revoke it at any time from chrome://extensions → Nkuba Helper → Site access. Access is needed because video can appear on any site; the extension reads only media URLs and the page URL/title.

Data retention

No data is retained by the developer because none is collected. On-device session data is cleared automatically by the browser when the tab or session ends.

Children

The Nkuba desktop app and this extension are intended for adults (18 or older, or the age of majority where you live). They are not directed at children.

Changes

This policy may be updated for future versions of the extension. The current version is published alongside the extension listing.
